‘KAWANI, Ikaw ay Isang Lingkod Bayani’ will be the theme of the Philippine Civil 112th anniversary in September, where heroism in public service will be the highlight of the celebration’s month-long activities.

Civil Service Commission (CSC) Chairman Francisco Duque III has called on all government agencies to participate in the various events, including an essay writing and photography contest.

Submission of entries for the essay writing, with the theme ‘Lingkod Bayani: Working for Gender Responsive, Accessible, Courteous and Effective Public Service’, is from June 18 to September 3.

The photo contest, dubbed ‘Give It Your Best Shot’, focuses on the essence of public service at its best. Deadline for submission of entries is July 19.

CSC will also hold the ‘Government Choral Competition’ on September 17. Each group should have 20-30 members who are government employees.

As in previous years, government employees will be treated to special benefits during the anniversary month such as free rides in public transportations and discounts in department stores.

A major highlight of the month-long celebration is the Honor Awards Program (HAP) Rites for the 2012 Presidential Lingkod Bayan, Dangal ng Bayan and PAGASA awards.

Meanwhile, the CSC will hold the career service professional and sub-professional examination today, May 27, in the cities of Dagupan and Urdaneta.

The exam will be basis for promotion to the second and first level positions in the civil service. (PIA-Pangasinan with report from the CSC)
