Book on EDSA Revolt launched
SILVER LININGS
“SILVER Linings: 25 Years of the 1986 People Power Revolution”, a book about the role of the Special Action Force during the 1986 EDSA Revolution, was launched last May 16 at Camp Aguinaldo.
The book is authored by journalist Melandrew T. Velasco of Dagupan City and co-authored by former Interior and Local Government Secretary Rafael M. Alunan III and former Police Deputy Director General Reynaldo V. Velasco, former mayor of Sta. Barbara.
The book also recounts the journey to People Power by the three EDSA icons – the late President Corazon C. Aquino in the eyes of her brother-in-law, Senator Agapito Aquino and her son President Benigno Aquino III; Jaime Cardinal Sin as told by Lingayen- Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas; and former President Fidel V. Ramos from the perspective of former officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police (PNP).
DOCUMENTARY
The book launching coincided with the premier screening of the video documentary “Tagapagligtas: The PC Special Action Force (SAF)”, which was attended by President Aquino at the AFP Theater in Camp Aguinaldo.
Ramos, founder of the Special Action Force, said the SAF documentary intends to raise the public’s trust and confidence in their law enforcers.
“Silver Linings” is co-sponsored by the Lopez Foundation, Metrobank Foundation, San Miguel Corporation, Bank of Commerce, Ayala Foundation, PNP, Vice President Jejomar Binay, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Manila Bulletin, SM Foundation, and Friends of General Velasco in the PNP and AFP. It is co-published by the Ramos Peace and Development Foundation (RPDEV) and Media Touchstone Ventures, Inc.
