Twelve entries win in “Kurit Panlunggaring”

1st PANGASINAN LITERARY AWARDS

LINGAYEN–Winners of the first Pangasinan Literary Awards, dubbed as “Kurit Panlunggaring”, took center stage during this year’s celebration of Agew na Pangasinan last April 11.

“The Pangasinan Day is one way of renewing the Pangasinenses’ commitment to the preservation of our culture,” said Provincial Administrator Rafael Baraan.

Provincial Tourism Officer Maria Luisa Elduayan said there were 25 entries for essay writing and poetry writing in the youth division, and 32 entries for poetry writing and short story writing in the adult division.

Proclaimed as winners for the essay writing category in the youth division are Maria Loudel Biag (from Dagupan City), first place; Jorge Aviles (Lingayen town), second place; and Danstan Lee Pernes (Pozorrubio), third place. For the poetry writing category, the victors are Archimedes Reimann Cayabyab (San Carlos City), first place; Maria Loudel Biag (Dagupan City), second place; and Jayson Bustamante (Binmaley), third place.

Winners for poetry writing in the adult division are Crissa Zamoranos (Calasiao), first place; Ana Lyn Soriano (Bolinao), second place; and Glenn Dale Pernes (Pozorrubio), third place.

For short story writing, Alex Romeo Fernandez (Dagupan City), a writer for the Philippine Information Agency-Pangasinan, won first place for his piece titled “Say Toon Akalmo, Say Toon Abalangan”.

In second place was Alvin De Guzman (Calasiao), and Harvie Aquino (Lingayen) in third place.

The awardees received cash prizes and trophies from the provincial government.(PIA-Pangasinan/April Montes)
