Police on alert for Holy Week, rest of summer
LINGAYEN—The provincial police force is now on heightened alert and will be shifted to full alert starting Monday in anticipation of the thousands that will be motoring to the province for the observance of the Holy Week.
After the Holy Week, the heightened alert level will be maintained because of the summer vacation with the anticipated increased flow of tourists for the holding of the celebration of the Pangasinan Day or “Agew na Dagupan” on April 11, the Pista’y Dayat on May 2, and the Palarong Pambansa from May 6 to 12.
Senior Superintendent Rosueto Ricaforte, police provincial director, said he has cancelled all leaves of personnel, as he wants every policeman to be on duty and ready 24/7 to respond to any kind of emergency.
At the same time, Ricaforte called on all force multipliers, like members of the Barangay Peace-keeping Action Team (BPAT), barangay tanods and members of communication service groups, to be prepared to assist the police in emergency cases.
Policemen are now manning police assistance centers set up in various strategic parts of the main highways.
These centers are different from the motorist assistance centers put up by the Department of Public Highways (DPWH) under Oplan Lakbay Alalay, which is intended to ensure trouble-free travel to vacationers.
Ricaforte said he has also deployed some of the policemen in popular destinations such as the Manaoag Church, the Shrine of the Senor Divino Tesoro in Calasiao, the beaches in Lingayen, Dagupan City, San Fabian, and the Hundred Islands National Park in Alaminos City.
Tighter security measures are also being implemented on all vital installations like the San Roque Multi-Purpose Project, the Sual Coal-Fired Plant, the installations of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, and in shopping malls and public markets.
