Pangasinan showcases Grand Triple “P” Treat this summer

LINGAYEN–All is set for the grand triple celebration of Pangasinan that will again put the province in the map of  “must see destinations” in the country this coming season of summer and athletics.

In his opening statement during the press conference held April 2 at the PDRRMC Conference Hall, Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. said that the biggest three-in-one summer spectacle of the provincial government will kick off on April 10 with a Pangasinan Zarzuela to be held at the Capitol beachfront followed by electronic fireworks display to welcome the official conduct of the Triple P (Pangasinan Day, Pistay Dayat, Palarong Pambansa) on April 11 and wind up on May 15.

The Governor expressed confidence that the very “bests” things about Pangasinan will be highlighted in the tri-celebration, showcasing the local culture, rich history, love of environment, and brand of service that leaders and workers can offer.

“This will serve as a showroom of excellence,” Espino said as he noted that the summer triple treat will reinforce the aim of the province to become No. 1 in various aspects of local governance and development.

AGEW NA PANGASINAN

Provincial Administrator Rafael F. Baraan said this year’s Pangasinan Day or Agew na Pangasinan (commemorating the 432nd founding anniversary of the province) will highlight three important activities, including the presentation of the draft research study of Pangasinan history and culture, the formal presentation of the official orthography of the province (the very first in the country), and the first-ever local literary contest featuring the masterpieces of some 45 homegrown writers using the Pangasinan language.

Aside from this, Baraan said the event will also serve as a “renewing commitment for the preservation of culture”, which he earlier dubbed as “the soul” of every race.

The launching of Pangasinan orthography, he said, will strengthen the framework of local language.

Meanwhile, Maria Luisa A. Elduayan, Chief of Pangasinan Tourism Division, said the biggest month-long tourism expo will be exhibited at the Pangasinan Tourism and Development Center (PTDC) compound with a wide array of products not only from Pangasinan, but also from the different regions in Luzon. Slots are also available for other regions in the country that are interested to showcase their best products.

The province will also be honoring seven brilliant Pangasinenses thru the annual ASNA awards, which aims to give recognition to local talents who made remarkable achievements in their respective fields.

PISTA’Y DAYAT

The Pista’y Dayat or sea festival, dubbed as the “Mother of all Festivals in the North” will stage colorful activities with an assortment of fun-filled events adorning the celebration.

Dolly Moya, OIC of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist and this year’s Pistay Dayat event chair, said all activities for the sea festival are geared towards promoting Pangasinan as a “fun place” to go this summer with a month-long kaleidoscope of events that will best enjoyed by spectators and guests of all ages.

PALARONG PAMBANSA

Serving as the grand finale of the Triple Treat is Palarong Pambansa 2012 to be conducted from May 6 to 12 with some 10,000 student athletes and coaches vying for the coveted medals in various sporting events together with multitudes of crowd witnessing the country’s biggest and most prestigious sports competition.

Atty. Verna Nava-Perez, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Secretary and head of Palaro 2012 secretariat, said delegations are expected to arrive as early as April 27.

Part of the Palaro 2012 schedule, she said, is a two-day refresher course for all technical officials to ensure for a smooth conduct of the different sports events.

Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Z. Calimlim, Jr. in his closing statement during the press conference said that a successful conduct of the Triple P is expected with the Palaro 2012 serving as the benchmark of all future sports events in the country.

Paraphrasing a statement of Espino, Calimlim said: “Palaro 2012 will definitely be hi-tech and environment friendly and Pangasinense employees will set a shining example to everyone in terms of public service.”

The press conference was attended by all provincial department heads and PNP representatives. (PIO)
