Panelco III workers ask GM to stay not
TAYUG—Officials and employees of the Pangasinan Electric CooperativeIII have signed a manifesto calling on their general manager to forgo his early retirement that would be effective at the close of office hour on April 30, a move that they consider as untimely and premature.
The signatories, led by Romulo Basa, Hubert Te, Narlo Abril and Arnel Gapuz, all area managers of Panelco IIl, called on the Board of Directors of the electric cooperative to decline the early retirement of Ferdinand Cerezo as general manager.
The other signatories are rank and file employees of Panelco III who consider Cerezo as a big asset to the cooperative whose tenure as general manager led to numerous improvements, including the substantial reduction of power outages, reduction of operational expenses, power quality and reliability programs and implementation of other corporate social responsibility projects of Panelco III.
It was not clear why Cerezo has applied for early retirement, although there were reports he is under pressure by certain local officials in some service areas of the cooperative to file his early retirement.
Panelco III serves all towns and one city in the fifth and sixth districts and some towns in the third and fourth districts.
Basa said the long-term development plan of Panelco III initiated by Cerezo is on its initial implementation stage but this could slow down once Cerezo leaves.
In their letter to Cerezo, the employees appealed to him to stay.
“We are appealing to you and the Board of Directors to reconsider your decision. We know how dedicated you are in your work force. We know how good you are as a person and your humble goals for Panelco III,” the employees said.
