NFA mobile buying teams for palay organized

THE National Food Authority (NFA) Western Pangasinan (WPGS) has intensified its palay procurement for the summer crop to provide a ready market for famers’ produce and to stabilize the farm gate price.

NFA Provincial Manager Beverlyn P. Peralta said the agency will field Mobile Procurement Teams in areas where ex-farm prices are below the government support price, particularly the remote parts not traditionally visited by traders.

Peralta added that with the NFA’s market intervention, farmers in the far-flung areas will be assured of a better price for their produce because this will trigger an increase in the farm gate of palay.

Peralta also announced that six buying stations are ready to accept palay deliveries from farmers’ groups and individual Farmers located at the following areas:

1. Alaminos GID Warehouse – Brgy. Pandayan, Alaminos

2. Mangatarem GID Warehouses – Brgy. Umangan, Mangatarem

3. Ferrer Warehouses – Brgy. Maniboc, Lingayen

4. Fernandez Warehouses – De Venecia Road, Dagupan City

5. Kazenbar Warehouses – Brgy. Tebeng, Dagupan City

6. Unique Warehouses – Brgy. Malabago, Mangaldan

NFA buys palay at P 17.00/kg from the farmers and grants a delivery incentive fee of P0.20/kg and P0.20/kg drying incentive fee to defray post harvest cost. An additional P0.30/kg Cooperative Development Incentive Fee is given if palay deliveries come from farmers’ cooperatives or other organizations.
