Fun-filled Mango-Bamboo Festival
SAN CARLOS CITY–The annual Mango-Bamboo Festival was celebrated here last week with various daytime activities and the evenings packed with special events.
The fiesta started April 23 with a Thanksgiving Mass, a parade and an opening program followed by a Farmers and Homemakers Day. In the evening, officers and members of the Sangguniang Kabataan, the city’s youth leaders, were treated to the Kabataan at Komedya Night.
It was the turn of the officials of the city’s 86 barangays on the 24th with Liga ng mga Barangay Night. Former Senator Miguel Zubiri came as guest of honor.
Earlier in the day, a medical and dental mission and ‘Operation Tuli’ sponsored by balikbayans were held on April 24 and a car show was held that was on until the 26th.
It was an early start on April 25 with a Fun Run kicking off at 5:30 a.m. The day was capped by the Balikbayan Night.
A hilarious gay basketball exhibition was featured on April 26 and a colorful street party was held along Palaris street in the evening.
On the 27th, Drum and Bugle Corps from various schools performed, including national winner Virgen Milagrosa University.
The night was reserved for ’Gabi ng mga Negosyante’, attended by the city’s investors and entrepreneurs.
The Mango-Bamboo Festival concluded with a street dancing competition in the morning of April 28 and the Fiesta Grand Ball and Coronation Night where the winners of this year’s Miss San Carlos City contest were crowned.
San Carlos City is the largest local government unit in Pangasinan in terms of land area and population. (PIA-Pangasinan)
