Bangus Festival’s impact on economy to be studied

THE Dagupan City government is partnering with the Department of Tourism for an economic impact analysis of the 2012 Bangus Festival.

“We will conduct the analysis to give us an idea of the impact of the event and to know how much percentage did their sales increase during the Bangus Fest,” said Councilor Brian C. Lim, chairman of this year’s festival, during a press conference last week at the Jollibee branch in Lucao.

Lim said the assessment will also serve as a tool for stakeholders to see the value of the event and study other economic opportunities for succeeding years.

Ed Penuliar, area manager of Jollibee Foods Corporation, said its store sales normally increase during the Bangus Festival.

“The yearly growth in sales is already established especially during the street grilling party where the crowd is huge,” Penuliar said.

Lim said aside from food stores, other businesses enjoy brisk sales during the festival, including tricycle and jeepney operators. (PIA-Pangasinan/VHS)
