Bangus Festival chess tourney open to all players
THE Dagupan Bangus Festival-Mayor Benjamin S. Lim Open Chess Tournament on April 21-22 is open to woodpushers of all ages and rating from around the country.
There will be two categories: Open Category for players of any age, regardless of title and rating; and the Kiddie Category for those 14 years and below.
Prizes at stakes are: Open Category—first place P7,000, second place P5,000, third place P3,000, fourth place P2,000, and fifth to tenth place P1,000 and a medal each; Kiddie Category—first place P3,000, second place P2,000, third place P1,000, fourth place P700, and fifth to tenth place P500 and a medal each.
The tournament will also award prizes to the top lady player, the top senior player (at least 55 years old) and the top local player (a resident of Dagupan). Each will receive a medal and P1,000 cash.
Registration fee for the Open Category is P200 for non-residents of Pangasinan, P150 for residents of the province, and P100 for residents of the city. For the Kiddie Category, P150 for residents outside of Pangasinan, P100 for residents of the province and P50 for residents of this city.
The tournament, sponsored by the city government, is organized by the newly-formed Dagupan City Chess Club (DCCC) under the auspices of the Pangasinan Chess Federation (PCF).
