4Ps targets 117,759 households in Region 1
THE Pantawid Pamilya Pilipino Program (4Ps) is expanding in Region 1 with 117,759 households in 71 municipalities and nine cities targeted to be benefited for 2012.
Assistant Regional Director Marlene Peralta of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said this was the result of the expansion of 4Ps in the provinces of Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur this year.
The expansion increased the number of 4P beneficiaries by 82,836 more from 34,920 beneficiaries in 2011.
In 2011, only 33 towns and two cities, namely Dagupan and Batac in Ilocos Norte, were covered.
All beneficiaries in 2011, according to Peralta, received Conditional Cash Transfers (CCTs) totalling P92.01 million as of the end of 2011.
Per province, Pangasinan has the most number of household beneficiaries at 72,848; La Union, 16,357; Ilocos Norte, 15,046; and Ilocos Sur, 13,508.
The 117,759 beneficiaries as of February 2012 comprise 47.51 percent of the identified 247,882 poor households in the region.
Peralta said at least 130,123 households more are targeted for future expansion or 52 .49 percent of the identified poor households.
