Women’s Month celebrations
ACTIVITIES in line with the observance of National Women’s Month were held in different parts of the province such as in the cities of Dagupan and San Carlos.
This year’s theme for the celebration is “Women Weathering Climate Change: Governance and Accountability, Everyone’s Responsibility” last March 20 at the City Astrodome.
In a forum at the Dagupan City Astrodome on March 20, Councilor Maria Librada Fe Reyna, chairperson of the committees on women, children and family affairs, emphasized that women are “not just spouses, sisters, friends, partners and mothers but they also serve as the country’s agents of change”.
Meanwhile, Arlene Agpoon of the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (CDRRMC) rallied the women to be more involved in development and mitigating the impact of climate change and at the same time asked authorities to give them more opportunities to do so.
In San Carlos City, officers and members of the Local Council for Women were inducted into office on March 8 at the Arenas- Resuello Sports Complex.
Inducted, as chair of the council is Mrs. Suzanne de Dios Resuello, president of the San Carlos City First Ladies League.
Mayor Julier Resuello, the event’s inducting officer, lauded the group in upholding women’s rights and for actively participating in city activities.(with report from PIA-Pangasinan)
