Samal City officials wowed by Pangasinan
LINGAYEN—Since its transformation beginning 2007, Pangasinan has become a favorite destination to many Lakbay Aral groups from the various towns, cities and provinces in the country.
Another Lakbay Aral group visited Pangasinan on March 20 to explore the province and learn about the various livelihood programs and best practices program.
Joel Olivares, head of the Lakbay Aral Team and Vice-President of the Liga ng Mga Barangay from the Island Garden City of Samal (IGaCoS) in Davao del Norte said they wanted to learn the best practices of the province and study the various programs and projects which they intend to bring to their city for implementation.
Samal City, like Pangasinan, consists of coastal barangays and “we want to replicate the success of this province by learning and studying the programs being implemented here,” Olivares said
Rosario Laguid, Department of the Interior and Local Government officer said the city wants to replicate first and foremost, the model farm in Dasol, which is the Donsol Farm.
Laguid said Samal City also wants to visit the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources office and learn about livelihood projects suitable to the coastal areas because according to her, the Island Garden City of Samal is composed of 31 barangays which are along the coastlines.
Jennifer Cariaga, City Investment and Tourism officer, also expressed the city’s interest in learning the processes of bagoong production, salt production and other products that can help the people of Samal City acquire livelihood.
Composed of 40 barangay chairmen, including the local government officer, tourism officer and other government workers, the 46-man Lakbay Aral Team uniformly expressed admiration to the Capitol Building after they were toured to the various offices at the Capitol and around the Capitol Complex.
Laguid said the Capitol is so majestic, so imposing and very grand.
