Musicale theater workshop set in Dagupan
A FIRST-of-its-kind musicale theater workshop will be held in Dagupan in April under the auspices of the Manila-based Spotlight Artist Centre (SAC) and the Lyceum Northwestern University (LNU).
SAC’s Isay Alvarez and Robert Sena, veterans of the famous musicale Miss Saigon, were in town last week to call on interested Pangasinenses to join the three-week workshop. The group is set to make LNU their permanent headquarters outside of Metro Manila.
Alvarez said the workshop is open to all ages, from children 6 years old, who want to hone their talents in singing, dancing and acting.
One week each will be dedicated for voice, acting, and dance.
At the end of the workshop, the students will participate in a musical recital that will be held in Dagupan City.
Students will also have a chance to be become part of the cast of musicale Magsimula Ka, which SAC intends to show soon in Pangasinan.
At the same time, the group has been invited to conduct a separate workshop for officials and employees of the provincial government which already set up a theater group called “Dangoan Pangasinan”.
Alvarez and Sena were joined by Dr. Carl Balita, who’s mother is from San Fabian, a businessman and is also in radio and television.
The three graced the Media in Action Forum of the Pangasinan Press Club headed by Atty. Gonzalo Duque, also chair of the Pangasinan Cultural and Historical Commission created by Governor Amado Espino Jr.
