Mother tongue-based education seminar set May 14-26
TEACHERS and linguists using the Pangasinan language will take part in the “2012 Training-Workshop on Bridging between Languages in Mother Language-Based Education under the New K-12 Curriculum” to be held on May 14-26 at the St. Louis University (SLU) in Baguio City.
SLU’s Jane Lartec said the training-workshop aims to promote bilingual and multilingual instructional methods in all school levels in line with the new education policy that will be introduced alongside the K+12 program.
The Department of Education said learning has been proven to be easier using local and mother tongue languages.
Organizers of the event are the Summer Institute of Linguistics (SIL), SLU, and the 170+ Talaytayan MLE Inc.
Workshop fee is P7, 500, inclusive of kit, materials, handouts, CD, lunch and two snacks.
