It’s more fun to pay taxes in Region I
CALASIAO–Anchored on the Bureau of Internal Revenue’s (BIR) national slogan “I Love Philippines, I Pay Taxes”, the BIR regional office is taking the campaign to another level, this time in sync with the country’s tourism come-on: “It’s more fun to pay taxes in Region 1”.
During the kick-off program for tax campaign last week, Taxpayer Assistance Unit head Lee Caday said the regional slogan, a brainchild of BIR Regional Director Arnel Guballa, promised to make the tax-paying process a “fun experience”.
Caday said all BIR district offices have designated taxpayer service areas manned by proactive frontliners to help walk-in taxpayers with their queries and assist them in their transactions.
Express lanes for senior citizens and disabled persons have also been set up, as well as directional signages, comfortable waiting areas, and most importantly courteous and smiling employees.
BIR will also strictly observe the “No Noon-Break Policy” to avoid delays for the taxpayers’ benefit.
“On top of all these amenities, what we can best offer our taxpayers is the quality service provided by all of our personnel,” Caday said
Meanwhile, BIR Deputy Commissioner for Information Systems Group Lilia Guillermo rallied taxpayers to be more patriotic, and be deeply aware of their role and responsibility in nation building through the payment of taxes.
Regional Director Arnel Guballa expressed optimism that the 2012 tax collection goal of P7 billion will be achieved.
The BIR district office in Calasiao is targeting to collect more than P2 billion.
At the kick-off program, some corporate and individual top taxpayers were invited and recognized for their significant contribution in tax collection. (PIA-Pangasinan/ VHS with report from BIR).
