19th Werweran ed Mangaldan set March 4
PANGASINAN’s best amateur riders and ex-professional cyclists will showcase their talents in the “19th Werweran ed Mangaldan 2012” Sunday March 4.
The cycling road race, held during the celebration of the Mangaldan town fiesta, is sponsored this year by the Mayor Herminio Romero and the Mangaldan Town Fiesta executive committee led by Councilor Ritchie Abalos, president of Liga ng Mga Barangay of Mangaldan president.
The road battle will start and finish at the Mangaldan PNP station, passing San Fabian, Damortis and Rosario in La Union, Sison, Pozorrubio and San Jacinto twice, with an approximate distance of 120 kilometers.
Cash prizes await winners of the annual race.
“Despite the financial constraints that our town Mangaldan is encountering this year, we cannot afford to call off the annual beautiful bikefest because until Mangaldan is still considered as one of the hotbeds of Philippine cycling that produce national cycling Tour champions. And we also believe that this is one of our ways to contribute to the province’ development of youth through sports,” said Romero.–JAGJr.
