LINGAYEN—The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) approved on February 20 Provincial Resolution No.1161-2012 expressing the council’s “total confidence, full support and commitment” to the leadership of Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr.

SP Member Alfonso C. Bince, Jr., author of the resolution, said the SP desires to put on record that it is rallying behind the untiring efforts of Espino in pushing through with various government developmental programs.

The resolution was passed after the controversy hounded the leadership of the provincial government over the publicized black sand quarrying in barangay Sabangan here and other politically motivated and unfounded accusations.

“The SP wishes to convey its unsolicited stance on said incidents and we are calling on well-meaning Pangasinenses to join hands with Gov. Espino in making Pangasinan truly number one among all the provinces of the country,” Bince said.

The SP said it is equally enthusiastic in giving full legislative support to the governor.

Another resolution was approved, No. 1162-2012 also authored by Bince, which expresses the legislative body’s full faith and confidence in Provincial Administrator Rafael Baraan.

Baraan has been serving as provincial administrator since 2007 when Espino first assumed his post.

Recently, Board Member Ranjit Shahani called for Baraan’s resignation for alleged incompetence and abusive nature.

“Such accusations are unfounded and uncalled for,” Bince said.

Bince said the SP has found Baraan cooperative, approachable and truly of great assistance to its legislative works, endeavors and concerns. (PIO/Sheila H. Aquino)
