San Jacinto couples tie knot after V-Day
SAN JACINTO –Even after Valentine’s Day, there was no stopping 226 couples from tying the knot here in a civil wedding ceremony held February 19 at the town auditorium.
The wedding ceremony was solemnized by Mayor Robert de Vera where Fourth District Rep. Gina de Venecia and former Senator Ernesto Maceda stood as sponsors.
Dante Pescador, provincial National Statistics Officer of Pangasinan, said this was the biggest mass wedding held in the province this year.
Last year’s Valentine’s Day wedding was participated in by only 13 couples.
But this year, the Municipal Registrar’s Office went house-to-house to look for and invite unwed couples living together.
Former Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr., who accompanied his wife Gina to the ceremony, advised couples to limit their children to 2-3.
