Rerouting on for Calasiao bridge construction

By February 27, 2012Inside News, News

PUBLIC and private vehicles are now diverted to other routes as the Villamil Bridge in Calasiao is now closed to all transportation with reconstruction work in full swing.

Light vehicles coming from San Carlos City and Malasiqui going to Dagupan can take the route going to Lasip Road, San Vicente Road, and Banaoang Road. Heavy vehicles coming from Malasiqui must take Sta. Barbara’s Marunong Road to go to Dagupan City; while heavy vehicles coming from San Carlos City going to Dagupan will have to take the Manat Road.

A footbridge has also been constructed for pedestrians, particularly residents of the surrounding barangays.

Re-routing signs have been set up by the Department of Public Works and Highways, according to Environment Safety Engineer Marino Estrella.

The bridge construction work, which is intended to elevate the area in flood-prone Calasiao, started in November 2011 and is expected to be completed by February 2013.—Allanah Paragas, UPB
