Dagupan Astrodome, pool set for repairs
A P1.5 million fund has been allocated for the repair of the swimming pool and astrodome in Dagupan in preparation for Pangasinan’s hosting of the 2012 Palarong Pambansa on May 6-12.
Another P700,000 will be spent for the repair and refurbishing of the West Central, West Central 1, West Central 2 and Guadiz Elementary Schools, which will serve as the billeting area of delegates from the National Capital Region (NCR) and the technical officials.
Mayor Benjamin Lim approved the release of the fund sourced from the Special Education Fund.
City Administrator Vladimir Mata said the costs of repairs and refurbishing of the schools for billeting will reach P1.436 million, so a request was made to the provincial government to shoulder the other half.
The Central Luzon Region Athletic Association (CLRAA) delegation will be housed at the Dagupan City National High School (DCNHS).
The astrodome will be the venue for basketball and gymnastics.
The pool was constructed in 1995 for the swimming event of the Palarong Pambansa which was hosted by Pangasinan for the first time.
Privately-owned facilities will also be used for some of the sporting events, including the CSI Stadia for badminton, table tennis and arnis; and Divine Word Academy of Dagupan for taekwondo. (CIO)
