The beauty that is Sual

TOURISM DESTINATION

RELAXING wind blows in from the sea and the nearby forests. There is a view of wonderful landscapes. And fishing destinations are inviting. That is Sual.

Sual is a first-class municipality in the western side Pangasinan, a coastal town rich not just in natural resources but also in history and culture.

The beauty of Sual was created by nature with its magnificent caves, naturally-formed bridge near the caves in Camagsingalan, the brooks of Mayaman Mabuclao, splendid white-sand islands, the Cabalitian Islands — home of millions of bats, and there are several uninhabited islands with panoramic views that are known to have been the rendezvous point of medieval pirates.

Infrastructure development has enhanced Sual’s natural splendour with its zigzag road overlooking one of the best natural harbors of the archipelago, Sual Bay.

This town also boasts of having one of the biggest, beautifully-renovated municipal buildings in the province.

The landscaped Sual Park, the fish port, the new Sual Public Market Building, and the Civic and Sports Complex are some of the other facilities worth seeing.

There are several options for hotels and beach resorts in the Baquioen area.

The mountains are rich in mines but its potentials have yet to be tapped.

Sual also hosts the biggest power plant in Luzon, the 1200-megawatt coal-fired Sual Power Plant owned by the Team Energy under a 25-year build-operate-transfer contract with the National Power Corp. (Napocor).

So much can be said of Sual, but the best way to discover its beauty is to come and visit.—Markgill dela Cruz, CdD
