Politician Jose Espino, 65
JOSE Espino, vice mayor of Bautista town, passed away last January 25 at the age of 65.
One of the brothers of Governor Amado Espino, Jr., the late vice mayor first held elective public office in 1992 as municipal councilor of Bautista.
He was elected for three consecutive terms as mayor from 1995 to 2004, after which he was again elected as vice mayor and won his third straight term in 2010.
“During his lifetime, Vice Mayor Espino’s integrity and dedication to his work as local government official symbolizes the epitome of a true and dedicated public servant with an unblemished and untarnished record,” reads a resolution passed by the provincial board led by Vice Gov. Jose Ferdinand Calimlim Jr. expressing their condolences.
The governor has moved his State of the Province address originally scheduled January 30 as the family mourns his brother’s death.
Vice Mayor Espino’s remains were buried January 28.
