LAOAC–A mother and her five children were hurt when a fragmentation grenade exploded under their nipa hut in Barangay Calmay here at about 7:00 p.m. Thursday.

Wounded were Sarah Padaoan, 38, a housewife; and her children Fredalyn, 13; Simon, 11; Alfredo, 10; Roderick, 8; and John Carl, 3.

Investigation conducted by the Laoac police revealed that a second unexploded hand grenade was found near the explosion site.

The police theorized that the grenades buried by somebody was dug up by a dog that was found dead near the crater caused by the explosion.

The Laoac police has sought the assistance of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) from Urdaneta City in the investigation of the incident.

The victims, who sustained shrapnel wounds in different parts of their bodies, were rushed to the Manaoag Community Hospital in adjacent Manaoag town and later transferred to the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital in San Carlos City.
