Kapitan arrests own son for drug use
BOLINAO—The kapitan of Barangay Germinal here did not have second thoughts about arresting his own son whom he caught in the act of using illegal drugs.
Barangay Chairman Romeo Celeste arrested and turned over to the local police his son Alvin, 33, and his companion, Michael Jayson Caasi, 22, caught sniffing methamphetamine hydrochloride, otherwise known as shabu.
Celeste went to visit Alvin at his auto shop on Peralta Street at 9:15 a.m. on November 22 and was initially shocked to find the two sniffing the illegal substance but did not hesitate in immediately informing the duo that he was arresting them.
At the Bolinao Police Station, the younger Celeste and Caasi confessed that the shabu was supplied by one Carlos Catallo, 37, a driver residing in Sitio Anson in Barangay Amado.
A dragnet operation led to the arrest of Catallo using Caasi as bait.
Catallo was in possession of three heat-sealed sachets of shabu at the time of his arrest.
Catallo was charged with drug pushing while a separate case of possession of illegal drugs was filed against Caasi and Celeste.
