FARMERS from five barangays who were affected by this year’s typhoons “Quiel” and “Pedring” received assistance from the Dagupan City government in the form of subsidized palay seeds.

Mayor Benjamin Lim handed over 51 bags of certified seeds to 72 local farmers who were identified by the city agriculture office as among the most affected by the natural calamities.

The recipients came from barangays Lucao, Salisay, Mangin, Malued, and Bonuan Boquig.

City Agriculturist Emma Molina said the seeds were provided under a 50 percent subsidy program wherein recepients only have to pay P600 per 40-kilogram bag instead of the regular P1,200 price.

“The palay seeds came from the regional office of the Department of Agriculture and each bag can plant one hectare of rice field,” said Molina. (CIO)
