DAGUPAN won two bronze awards in the 2011 LIVCOM Awards under the Whole City Category E and Project Awards Category E for its river rehabilitation program “Ilog Ko, Bilay Ko”, focusing on the city’s Dawel River Cruise.

The recognition, handed out last October 26 to 28 in Songpa, South Korea, was from the International Awards for Livable Community where there were nominees from 77 cities in 56 countries.

Dagupan was also a finalist in the Bursary Award for its floating fish cage program.

The LivCom Awards, launched in 1997 and endorsed by the United Nations Environment Programme, focuses on best practices on the management of the local environment.

Mayor Benjamin Lim was pleased with the city’s achievement saying it should serve as an inspiration for Dagupenos to make their city a more livable community.(CIO)
