Brod kills cop chief, wife over land row
ALAMINOSCITY—A dispute over land ended grimly with an elder brother killing his younger brother and wife in Barangay Pandan here on October 30.
The victims were Police Superintendent Lloyd Millan, 39, chief of police of Bayambang town, and his wife Cheryl Tarife, 34.
The alleged killer, who used a Caliber M-16 Baby Armalite and Cal. 45 pistol to shoot his relatives, is Lyndon, 41, deputy chief of the Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) in Alaminos.
The incident happened in front of a fishpond in Barangay Pandan, witnessed by barangay Chairman Ricardo Legaspi and two kagawads.
Legaspi was to mediate the dispute between the brothers over the fishpond as requested by Lyndon.
Lloyd and Cheryl arrived first at the scheduled talks and Lyndon followed toting a baby-Armalite and a Caliber .45 pistol on his waist.
When Lyndon arrived, he reportedly immediately fired at this brother.
When Cheryl tried to come to the rescue of her husband, Lyndon shot her too.
Before leaving, Lyndon drew his Caliber 45 pistol and fired more bullets on the couple.
Lloyd reportedly was also able to draw his Cal. 99 mm. pistol and fired two shots but Lyndon was not hit.
Lyndon ran off after the shooting but surrendered at 5:00 p.m. that day to Alaminos Mayor Hernani Braganza.
Braganza said the negotiation for Lyndon’s surrender started at 11:00 a.m. with the help of another Millan sibling, Lester, and their mother.
After Lyndon agreed to surrender, the mayor and Supt. Rolly Saltat, chief of police of Alaminos, fetched the suspect who was hiding in one barangay.
Braganza said he is saddened by the tragedy that befell the Millan family as well as Alaminos City, which the two Millan brothers served well in different capacities.
The younger Millan once served as chief of police of the city.
