Autopro backs fare hike to P10
THE Alliance of United Transport Operators of the Province (AUTOPRO) has expressed support to the call by the national group led by the Alliance of Concerned Transport Organizations (ACTO) for an increase in the minimum fare for jeepneys from P8.50 to P10.
Efren De Luna, ACTO national president, was in the province last weekend and met with officers and members of AUTOPRO.
Aside from the P10 minimum fare, the group is also seeking an increase for every additional kilometer from P1.35 to 1.75.
De Luna said the group intends to file the petition this week at the regional office of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board.
“Hinihiling natin ang pagtaas ng pamasahe dahil as patuloy na pagtaas ng bayarin pati services ng LTFRB (Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board) at LTO (Land Transportation Office) tumaas din,” De Luna said.
Benny Aquino, AUTOPRO President for Pangasinan, added that the increase is necessary owing to the continued increase in the price of diesel.
“Patuloy ang pagtaas ng presyo ng langis pati spare parts. Hirap ang mga operators tapos dumadami pa ang colorum (vehicles).” Aquino said.
Aside from the price hike, De Luna also discussed with the local transport group the removal of the mandatory payment of Social Security System contributions and the implementation of the coding system. (PIA-Pangasinan)
