3rd Jimmy Fernandez Invitational Basketball Cup set Nov. 28
THE 3rd Season of the Jimmy Fernandez Invitational Basketball Cup reels off on November 28 at the Divine Word Academy of Dagupan (DWAD) gymnasium.
Named after the late businessman Jimmy Fernandez, father of the Dagupan Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez, also Basketball Association of the Philippines (BAP) Region 1 Director, the tournament will be participated in by eight collegiate basketball teams from Pangasinan.
The participants are the Cup’s defending champion, the Binalonan-based University of Eastern Pangasinan; last season’s 1st runner-up University of Luzon – Team B; Pangasinan Merchant Marine Academy (PAMMA); Colegio de Dagupan (CdD); PIMSAT Colleges; Urdaneta City University (UCU); Pan-Pacific University North Philippines from Urdaneta City; and, Perpetual Help University System in Malasiqui.
Tournament project director Seato Gonimil said after the two-game opening salvo, two games will be played every Thursday and Monday, 1 p.m., at the DWAD Gym.
The contending teams will play a double round robin series and the top two teams will battle in a best-of-three championship series.—P.C. Celi
