San Carlos swim team shines in GATE Jr. Cup
LINGAYEN—The San Carlenian Swim Club of Pangasinan excelled in the 1st Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. Swim Cup held October 15 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center.
The San Carlenian Swim Club of Pangasinan, organized just eight months ago by Rommel Cardinoza, dominated the Novice category, trailed by the La Union Bullsharks in 2nd place while the Isabela Arapaima Swim Club were 3rd.
The Grotto Vista Swim Club from Bulacan was the champion in the G-League category, followed by again the La Union Bullsharks in 2nd and the Subic Bay Dolphins in 3rd.
The 15 contingents that participated in the sports activity came from various swimming clubs from Isabela, Baguio City, Dagupan City, La Union, San Jose, Subic, Bulacan and Tarlac City
In his welcome remarks, the governor said the province “is very proud for playing host to the swimming competition” and urged the Philippine Aquatic Sports Association to come to Pangasinan again for more swimming competitions.
Espino also announced that Pangasinan will have a 50-meter Olympic-sized swimming pool by next year.
Later, Anthony Villanueva, Swim Development Officer for the Philippine Aquatic Sports Association (PASA) CNL-CAR, hailed the province for a successful hosting of the competition and gave assurance that other tilts will be held here. (PIO)
