Quarry operators told to observe responsible mining
LINGAYEN–Governor Amado Espino Jr. has called on all quarry permit holders in Pangasinan to observe responsible mining and contribute to the provincial government’s efforts at protecting the environment.
The province’s Environment and Natural Resources Office-Natural Resources Regulatory Group (ENRO-NRRG) gathered all quarry permit holders on October 5 at the Pangasinan Training and Development Center here to remind them of their responsibilities to the community and the environment.
Meanwhile, Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Director Carlos Tayag challenged the operators to create a “pro-people and pro-environment” industry which he said calls for dedication and determination.
Mining, he said must be acceptable and should at all times be guided by the principle of environmental protection.
For his part, Napoleon Fontellera, Sr., former president of the Pangasinan Mining Operators Association Incorporated (PAMOAI), commended the leadership of Espino. (PIO)
