PRE-EMPTIVE MOVE
PRE-EMPTIVE MOVE–San Roque Power Corporation personnel record the release of water from Gate 4 of the San Roque Dam, that was opened by one-half meter Thursday noon as water at the reservoir reached 279.96 meters above sea level (masl) just 0.4 meter below the critical level of 280 masl. SRPC and government officials said the gate opening was a pre-emptive move in anticipation of more water pouring in with the entry of Typhoon “Quiel” over the weekend and avoid a sudden water release that could cause massive flooding in several towns.
