Pangasinan hosts 1ST Nat’l Sportsfest of Treasurers and Assessors Assn.
LINGAYEN–The provincial government of Pangasinan will host the 1st National Sportsfest of the Philippine Association of Local Treasurers and Assessors (PHALTRA), Inc. that reels off on October 4 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center here.
Culminating on the 7th of October, the 4-day event will gather more than 1000 PHALTRA delegates from all over the country consisting of the executive director, regional directors and regional presidents including all local treasurers and assessors in the various sports activities as part of the association’s 1st National Sharing of Best Practices on Treasury and Assessment Operations and Wellness Program.
Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. has instructed the special events working committee to assist the local treasurers and assessors in the preparation for their upcoming event.
Provincial Assessor Nestor Quiambao, overall coordinator of the special events working committee for PHALTRA’s sportsfest, said that as host province, Pangasinan will stage a trade fair and exhibit featuring the various products of the province to further boost tourism.
A tour of the premier tourism sites in Pangasinan aboard the provincial buses forms part of the delegates’ activities, assisted by the province’s tour guides.
The PHALTRA members will also be treated to a beautiful presentation of Pangasinan’s rich culture and history through the Dangoan Pangasinan Cultural Show featuring Asin ed Asinan with the participation of the provincial government’s department heads while the Banda ni ATE provides the musical entertainment.
Various events for the competition include volleyball, basketball, tennis, relay obstacle race, walkathon, marathon, chess, billiards, bowling, practical shooting, 100-meter dash, tug-of-war, dancesport competition and cultural competition.
Among other venues for the different activities slated for the PHALTRA are the Sison Auditorium for the dancesport and cultural competition and the Pangasinan Training and Development Center for the registration. (PIO/Angeline D. Villanueva)
