Pangasinan folk songs choral tilt set Oct. 14

SOME 12,000 students from public and private high schools in Dagupan will gather in front of the Saint John the Evangelist Cathedral on October 14 to compete in the singing of Pangasinan folk songs with the famous Malinac Lay Labi as the highlight.

Dubbed as Sanengseng, the choral singing competition is hosted by the Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan headed by Archbishop Socrates B. Villegas in cooperation with the Department of Education.

The program, which will start at five in the afternoon after praying the Angelus at the corner of Jovellanos and Burgos Streets.

The prelate said the competition is intended to inspire the youth to rediscover Pangasinan culture and take pride in their heritage.

City Mayor Benjamin Lim also launched the radio program “Pinablin Taoir” over Aksyon Radyo Pangasinan to promote the Pangasinan language. (CIO)
