Dengue, AGE, leptospirosis under control
LINGAYEN–Dengue, acute gastro-enteritis (AGE) and leptospirosis are now on the wane in Pangasinan based on latest data compiled by the Provincial Health Office (PHO).
From October 1 to 10, only four cases of dengue were registered, significantly lower than the 90 recorded in the same period last year.
Officials attributed the slow down of dengue partly to the last flood caused by typhoons “Pedring” and “Quiel”, which may have carried away the breeding places of mosquitoes mostly found on stagnant water near homes in many communities.
Record showed that dengue began to dip in September where there were only 503 cases recorded, compared to 1,324 in August, the peak month of the disease.
AGE is also on the wane as there were only two cases registered in the province for the first 10 days of October as compared to 22 in the same period last year.
The uptrend for AGE cases were in January, February and March and the cases varied slightly up to June. It further lowered in July and August and made asharp decline in September with 223 cases recorded.
Meanwhile, only three leptospirosis cases were recorded from October 1 to 10.
The highest ever was in September at 21 during the onslaught of typhoons that flooded many towns and cities.
