City hosts seminars on RH bill, women issues

THE Maternal & Child Health Care and Anti-Violence against Women and Children Act seminars, sponsored by Senator Pia S. Cayetano, were held simultaneously held in Dagupan last week in line with the city’s observance of Family and Children’s Month.

Among the issues discussed were the proposed Reproductive Health Bill, crimes against women and the escalating maternal mortality rate.

Lectures on breastfeeding, maternal and child health care as well as the benefits of the RH bill were delivered by Dr. Vivian Eustaquio, Cayetano’s medical and community affairs adviser.

Other speakers were Taguig Kagawad Anabel De Guzman who talked on the basics principles of Republic Act No. 9262, the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children’s Act.

Councilor Librada Reyna, chair of the Sangguniang Panlungsod committee on Women, Children and Family Affairs, reminded participants on the need to be aware of human rights issues and to stand up against violations, especially abuses against women and children.

Among the participants were the barangay nurses, day care workers, barangay health workers, city hall employees, teachers, and students.
