CONSTRUCTION of the road and drainage system in Barangay Bonuan Gueset in Dagupan City worth P45 million initiated by Fourth District Rep. Gina De Venecia started last week and is due for completion in December this year.

De Venecia said the project was given priority to ease the mobility of residents in the barangay, the most densely populated in Dagupan.

The new drainage system will abate constant flooding and help boost local tourism in the Tondaligan Beach area.

Another 16 projects using the congresswoman’s countrywide development fund are ongoing in the city, worth P13.7 million. These include seven road concreting projects at the PNR site road in Mayombo, Sitio Centro road in Lasip Grande, Purok 4 road in Lucao, Sitio Boquig road at Patalan in Bacayao Sur, Salisay road, Callejon extension road in Pogo Chico, and Cassimira Claveria road in Pogo Grande.

De Venecia is also building six classrooms for Dagupan East Central Integrated School in Barangay Mayombo worth P5.5 million; the barangay halls of Lomboy and Tebeng; the foot bridge at Sitio Nibaliw in Mangin; the drainage system of Francisco Duque road in Tapuac, Cassimira Claveria road in Malued, Sitio Boquig road in Sagur, Mamalingling; the Bacayao Norte road, and the entire Herrero Perez road.

LEGISLATION

Meanwhile, De Venecia gave an update on her legislative tasks.

De Venecia had proposed and received committee-level approval for the expansion of the Region 1 Medical Center from a 300-bed capacity to 600. The funding is already included in the national appropriations.

She has also proposed the establishment of a fish port in Dagupan to compliment the operation of the Seafood Fish Processing Plant.

“My husband worked hard to have this plant built in Dagupan, with only the welfare of the local fishfolks in mind and no one else’s,” she said referring to former House Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr. whom she replaced as the district’s congressional representative following elections last year.
