New ambulances, hospital equipment distributed to hospitals

GOV. Amado T. Espino recently turned over six ambulances and 130 sets of medical and surgical equipment in a ceremonial program to various hospitals and towns of the province.

The fleet of ambulances was donated by the Europian Commission while the medical and surgical equipment came from the Department of Health (DoH).

The vehicles will be distributed to six hospitals, namely; the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital (PPH), Urdaneta District Hospital, Eastern Pangasinan District Hospital, Western Pangasinan District Hospital, Bayambang District Hospital and Mangatarem District Hospital.

This comprises the third batch of ambulance units distributed to the provincial government–run hospitals.

All district hospitals and the PPH in Bolingit have three ambulance units each, the governor said.

Meanwhile, the 130 sets of medical and surgical equipment which are composed of 13 units of birthing table; 13 units of instrument cabinet; 26 units of Kelley pad; 26 units of minor surgery set; 13 units of wheel chair; 13 units of clinical weighing scale for adult; 13 units clinical centrifuge and 13 units of wheeled stretcher will be given to the towns of Bugallon, Aguilar, Sison, Infanta, Mabini, Sual, Labrador and San Nicolas.

With the acquisition of the new hospital equipment, it is expected that the residents from the far-flung areas of the province will now avail of better health services, the governor said.

Espino noted that health care services in Pangasinan is now 90 percent complete based on the standard set by the DoH. (PIO/Darwin Magalong)
