PRC, Capitol ink MOA to remove fake ‘professionals’
LINGAYEN—The provincial government has forged a partnership with the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) to prevent “fake professionals” from entering the government service.
The memorandum of agreement (MOA) was signed on August 8 during the launching of the year-long “Agew na Propesyonal”, a program geared towards strengthening and professionalizing the provincial government bureaucracy to attain excellent public service.
The MOA involves the introduction of the online verification of eligibility system (OVES), that will provide information online on names who have been issued professional licenses.
The OVES is designed to ensure fast and reliable verification of credentials of professionals applying for any position in the provincial government. It is now being utilized by the Civil Service Commission, Department of Education, Department of Labor and Employment and local governments to keep fake professionals from entering the civil service.
PRC Regional Director Teofilo Gaius M. Sison, Jr. the project does not only benefit the local government unit by tracking fake professionals but it also serves local professionals, especially those who are renewing professional IDs or applying for exams.
“They don’t need to file leave of absence from work and they can save on travel expenses because PRC is bringing its services closer to them,” he said.
Sison commended Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. for initiating the program, making Pangasinan the first province in the region to venture into such undertaking.
The Espino administration previously discovered some fake professionals who were employed by the past administration.
One of Espino’s priority programs when he first assumed post in 2007 was to clear and clean the bureaucracy.
Meanwhile, Janet Asis, Officer-in-Charge of the Human Resource Management Office encouraged Pangasinenses to take the opportunity of transacting with the PRC thru the various whole-day schedule and venue of ‘Agew na Propesyonal’. These are: August 26, Pangasinan Provincial Hospital in San Carlos City; October 7, the Urdaneta District Hospital; October 12, Eastern Pangasinan District Hospital in Tayug; and December 2, Western Pangasinan District Hospital in Alaminos City.
