Guv confident in Palarong Pambansa bid
PANGASINAN has a strong chance of being chosen as next host of the Palarong Pambansa next year, according to Governor Amado Espino Jr.
The governor said technical officials of the Department of Education (DepEd) are expected to visit the province soon to evaluate existing facilities, other resources and the capability to host next year’s games.
The governor said he is not one bit worried because “the province not only has the physical but also the human infrastructure that are vital to the event”.
Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member Ranjit Ramos Shahani revealed Pangasinan is now among the five provinces being considered by DepEd for next year’s Palarong Pambansa, the biggest national games for primary and secondary schools.
The other provinces bidding to host are Laguna, Albay, Oriental Mindoro and Marikina City.
By September, the list will be narrowed down to three bidders, all of whom will then be required to make presentations before the DepEd officials.
If Pangasinan makes it to the top three, Shahani, Provincial Administrator Rafael Baraan, and Provincial Sports Development Officer Modesto Operana will do the presentation.
