Espino forms Nat’l Tourism Week Celebration committee
LINGAYEN— Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. has urged all local government units, national agencies and the private sector in Pangasinan to actively support and participate in the National Tourism Week Celebration on September 16 to 30 as the province is now all set for the celebration.
The governor made the appeal after creating the Provincial Steering Committee for the 2011 National Tourism Week Celebration to plan, coordinate and implement the programs and activities that will be conducted during this year’s celebration.
Espino said the observance of the National Tourism Week is aimed at instilling national consciousness on tourism as an instrument of progress towards an accelerated national development, unity and identity as a nation.
The province of Pangasinan for one, puts tourism development as a priority concern being one of the major thrusts of the province.
The various tourism development efforts that were done Pangasinan have given the province a reputation as a favorite tourist destination.
The steering committee for the 2011 celebration is headed by Vice-Governor Jose Ferdinand Calimlim, Jr. with chief tourism operations officer Maria Luisa Elduayan as co-chair.
Members are Butch Velasco, provincial information officer; Dalisay Moya, officer-in-charge provincial agriculturist; Marife Acerit, OIC of Special Events Team; Col. Samuel Labadia, OIC- ENRO-NRRG; Dr. Aurora Domingo, division school superintendent of DepEd, Pangasinan I; Dr. Virginia Raguindin, Dr. Rowena Banzon, Dr. Alma Ruby Torio, Dr. Ma. Celia Fernandez, Dr. Oscar Tadeo, all from DepEd; Leduina Co, OIC PENRO; Peter Mangabat, DTI provincial director; Dasol Mayor Noel Nacar, PLM president; Sn. Quintin Councilor Bayani Villar, PTOA president; Martin Valera, DOT Region 1 dirctor; Dr. Caridad Abuan, acting director of CHED Region 1; and Howie Cham, president of Pangasinan Tourism Council.
This year’s theme is “World Wetland’s Day 2011-Forest of Water and Wetland. (PIO)
