Dagupan inks MOA for call center

THE Dagupan government last week signed a memorandum of agreement with Sutherland Global Philippines Inc. for the possible construction of a Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) center in the city.

The deal was inked by Mayor Benjmin Lim and Craig Bauwens, Sutherland’s vice president and country manager for the Philippines.

Under the MOA, the city will provide Sutherland a recruiting station at the Product Center in Poblacion Oeste for one year free of lease, beginning last May 23.

Within that period, the BPO firm is supposed to identify where it can locate its thousand-seat call center.

“Dagupan is the best choice,” Lim said.

Aside from job opportunities for Dagupeños, the local economy as a whole is expected to benefit from the global company’s investment in the city. (CIO)
