Barangay brass shot dead in Bayambang
ANOTHER KILLING BY TANDEM RIDERS
THE barangay secretary of Bani in Bayambang was shot dead by a still unidentified lone gunman on board a motorcycle while he was inside his home compound at about 11:50 a.m. of August 1.
The police identified the fatality as Panfelo Samson, 74, who sustained several gunshot wounds in different parts of his body.
After the shooting, the suspect fled toward a southern direction and is now being hunted by the Bayambang police.
The victim was rushed to the Bayambang District Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Initially, personal grudge is believed to be the motive of the slaying but the police are also looking into other angles.
The suspects used a Caliber .45 pistol as evidenced by 11 empty shells and three deformed slugs found by investigators at the crime scene.
FAITH-HEALER SHOT DEAD TOO
Meanwhile, a woman faith-healer was gunned down while conducting a supposed faith healing session inside a house at 3:00 p.m. in Barangay Tanolong, also in Bayambang.
The fatality was identified as Mary Grace Tan, 44, a native of Sta. Cruz., Davao del Sur and temporarily residing in this town.
She was shot in different parts of the body with a handgun by two unidentified male suspects who boarded a motorcycle with no plate number and sped away after the crime.
Tan was rushed to the Bayambang District Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.
Motive of the slaying is still unknown although it is generally believed in the area that it may be related to the woman’s faith healing activities.
