LINGAYEN—Another batch of 21 women groups from different parts of Pangasinan have received a total of P2.4 million worth of low-interest loans for livelihood projects.
Governor Amado Espino Jr. distributed the checks to representatives of the women associations on August 11 at the provincial capitol.
The loan is part of the provincial government’s Livelihood Assistance Program, under which a total of P6.5 million worth of loans have been released since January this year and more than P16 million since the start of the program.
Victorina Banez, Population Program Officer IV, explained that the loan assistance is aimed at promoting the entrepreneurial activities of various women groups, particularly those whose members are mostly housekeepers, spouses of farmers.
Each group received micro-financing of between P60,000 to P170,000, at an interest of 4% over six months with a rebate of 2.5% for payments made before the scheduled due date.
