Transport group seeks oil price stability

THE transport group in Pangasinan has called for the return of the oil price stability council in a bid to keep pump prices immune from predatory pricing by oil companies.

Benny Aquino, president of the Alliance of United Transport Organization Province-wide (AUTOPRO), said public transport drivers are burdened by the frequent hike in prices, the latest of which was implemented by oil companies early last week.

Sana po ibalik ang oil price stabilization council upang maging constant ang presyo ng langis para kahit tumaas man o bumaba ang presyo sa world market, kontrolado ang presyo sa atin,” Aquino said.

Oil companies last week increased gasoline price by P2 for every liter and diesel by 80 centavos.

The government provided subsidy to drivers through the “Pantawid Pasada” cards in April, but no assurance was given if the program will be extended to October, six months after the experimental stage.

Aquino lamented that some of the drivers received defective cards and therefore could not avail of the subsidy while most have already fully exhausted their subsidy.

Nananawagan kami sa pamahalaan na maglaan ng pondo para sa oil supply at dagdagan pa ang subsidy upang ma bigyang solusyon ang karaingang ito ng transport group,” Aquino said. (PIA-Pangasinan)
