TeaM Sual bags 1st Outstanding Pabasa sa Nutrisyon Award in Region 1
TEAM Sual Corporation received the “Outstanding Pabasa sa Nutrisyon Award – NGO Category” from the Philippine Association of Nutrition (PAN) Inc. in recognition of its outstanding implementation of the Pabasa sa Nutrisyon Program (PsN) for the year 2010.
The award, given during the PAN 64th Annual Convention on July 7-8 held in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, was a first for a non-government organization in Region 1.
The Pabasa sa Nutrisyon Program is part of TeaM Energy’s 2010 Health program dubbed “Cool Maging Healthy” for the municipality of Sual.
The PsN helped decrease Sual’s malnutrition rate from 8% to 4% for children ages 2-6 yrs. old.
The “Cool Maging Healthy” program was undertaken by TeaM Energy in partnership with the Nutrition Center of the Philippines (NCP) and the Office of the Municipal Mayor of Sual with its key local agencies such as the Municipal Health Office, Municipal Agricultural Office, the seven beneficiary-barangay units, and the Sangguniang Bayan of Sual.
The program covered classes on proper nutrition and food preparation for mothers, promotion of backyard farming, and competitions to encourage communal gardens and community participation in the program implementation.
TeaM Sual Corporation owns and operates the 1,200 MW Sual Power Station.
