Robredo to meet with R1 LGU execs

THE Department of Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) roadshow “Tapatan: A Celebration of P.A.R.Tnerships towards Good Local Governance” is coming to Region 1 on August 3.

DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo will be meeting with the local government leaders to include governors, vice governors, city and municipal mayors, and provincial presidents of the various leagues down to the barangay level, of the provinces of Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte

Representative from civil society organizations and National Government Agencies (NGAs) and local media have also been invited to attend the seminar-dialogue.

“Tapatan is a gathering of stakeholders to celebrate good local governance in Region 1,” DILG

Regional Director Manuel Biason said.

“We want to highlight the gains of local autonomy through sharing of good practices, recognition of performing local government units in line with our Seal of Good Housekeeping, and of course, we want our partners to have the opportunity to interface with our DILG Secretary,” he added.

The DILG will also present its “Governance Reform Agenda” represented by the acronym P.A.R.T., which means Partnership, Accountability, and Responsiveness, Transparency.

There will also be a presentation on good practices on disaster risk reduction and management, local government unit and non-government organization partnership, and local economic development.

Mayors Benjamin Lim of Dagupan City and Hernani Braganza of Alaminos City, together with Alfredo Valdez of San Nicolas in llocos Norte, are the invited resource speakers.

Another highlight of the Tapatan is the launching of the Gawad Pamana ng Lahi, a new performance-based award system on local governance and awarding of the 2011 seal of Good Housekeeping to the local government awardees.
