Decorp assures limited interruption
HAVING nearly completed the upgrade of its facilities which started in 2006, the Dagupan Electric Corporation (DECORP) said it can now assure customers of less interruption in its service.
Engr. August Sarmiento, Decorp operations manager, said the upgrading is being one in compliance with the performance-based regulation issued by the Energy Regulatory Commission, which requires all electric power corporation and cooperatives nationwide to promote and protect consumer interests.
“Halos strengthening nalang ang ginagawa namin,” he said during the KBP Forum at the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) on Thursday.
Sarmiento said almost all wooden poles have now been replaced with steel or concrete poles that can withstand strong winds, noting that most power interruptions were caused by falling posts, particularly during typhoons.
Sarmiento added that the company has also provided alternate lines to enable it to deliver electricity to consumers even during repair and maintenance operation.
He said any power interruption is now limited to fifteen minutes that usually took a minimum of three hours.
Decorp supplies power to Dagupan City and neighboring towns of Calasiao, Sta. Barbara, San Jacinto, San Fabian, Manaoag, and two barangays in San Carlos City.
Ninety percent of the power comes from Masinloc Power Partner Co. Limited in Zambales.
In case of power failure, the Decorp relay station in barangay Caranglaan can switch to and get power from the San Manuel sub-station to provide limited power to hospitals, water pumping stations, business establishments and government offices. (PIA-Pangasinan)
