IT is still almost two years before the next election, but this early the Commission on Elections (Comelec) is already calling on voters to register and avoid the usual last minute rush.

Citizens of legal age – 18 years old – to vote in 2013 can already register at Comelec offices, Monday to Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Registration started last May 3 and will end on October 13 next year.

Registered voters who failed to vote in the last two elections who need to log in a transfer of residence or revalidation for having can also do so.

Atty. Remarque Ravanzo, Dagupan City election officer, said very few have registered so far and advised registrants to avoid the stress and difficulties that accompany registration on the last day.

Ravanzo said his office plans to hold satellite registrations in the 31 barangays of Dagupan to encourage more voters to register early.

Comelec conducted held a special national registration for persons with disabilities last week. (PIA-Pangasinan)
